Sunday – Lanovla to Pune

Find out my clutch is OK, bolt loose. Adjust Geoffs carbs. Ride to Pune. Arrive around 2pm. Karbatangs are home luckily. Hang out with Boxter and Jeni. See LaVonne for a bit. Eve wakes up and takes us to buy bus tickets. Then to Snoop and Tuna’s house for spliffs and beer. Snoop still DJs hiphop at the clubs. Tuna stills sings at some four star hotel. Eve has a new boyfriend named Albert from Manipur. Nice guy. Sadam is back in Yemen, arranged marriage. New roommate from Saudi Arabia named Sultan. Pretty cool. Eve doesn’t work. Can’t believe how Pune has come up. Expensive houses in suburbs, malls, Sony World, Subway, KFC. Crash around 1am. Leave bikes at Boxter’s house no problem.

Saturday – Mumbai to Lanovla

Took nice ferry RS 150 -/ A/C from Dwada back to Gate of India. Got our bikes from Mumbai Central Train Station. Ate at McDonalds. So good, plus A/C. Mumbai is muggy, hot 36 degrees C. Took bike to mechanic for new bearings. Left Mubmai to Sion to Mandikurd to Panval around 4pm. Good roads. Took curvy express way through mountains even though motorcycles weren’t allowed. Geoff’s bike breaks down around 9pm. Luckily near Motel, no rooms. Scorpions on road. Get bike started but running rough. Decide to back track to Lanovla. Motel owner sends his boys to show us the way. My clutch goes out, ride on anyway. Stat at Center Point. Assholes try to charge us RS 1500 -/. Find manager by accident. He gets us a room for RS 600-/

Friday – Alipag

Found Kihim Beach. Beautiful hidden secret beach not in guide books. Kihim Beach Resort has tents for RS 1000 -/ night including food and transport from Bombay. Hung out on beach for hours drinking King Fisher beer. Met couple from Bombay, and drank and talked for a while next to a motivational seminar. It was great. Must stay here next time. Got pineapple, mango, grapes, cantaloupe, oranges and had chef at Sai Inn make us fresh fruit salad with vanilla ice cream for dessert. Delicious. Laid in hammocks and figured out next tour route and list of things to bring.

Thursday – Mumbia to Alipag

Get off train. Broken clutch handle, taillight, Geoff’s distributor cap. Wait around in train station while our bikes are being fixed. Ride through town to cheap ferry service. Took RS 25 -/ ferry from New Ferry Wharf to Dwada and took big auto rickshaws to Alipag. Checked out Windmill Resort, but cost RS 3000 -/. Too posh. Accidentally found Sai Inn Resort. Awesome place, RS 1800 -/ for a cottage. Met Russian American C++ programmer working for Indian Steel Co. Partied with him and his wife that night. Sam in beautiful pool. Sai Inn is an old mango plantation, no internet, good food, whiskey.

Wednesday – Ahmedabad to Mumbia

Hang out in Amdavad all day. Find moto area. Get stickers put on bikes “Silver Surfer” on mine and racing stripes. “Sarge” on Geoff’s and star and ohm. Ride bikes to MG House for tali with Andreas. Get dad an antique pan peti. Take a night train to Mumbai. II AC 2 tier. Bikes go on with gas with ease. No papers needed.

Tuesday – Ahmedabad

Try, but can’t get into India vs. Pakistan cricket match. Pakistan wins by one wicket. Go to MG House for the royal treatment. RS 247 -/ Tali is the most amazing ever. Lounge on cushions on the rooftop. Impeccable service. Get bike serviced. Adjust timing and carbs. Decide to replace drum brakes. Meet up with Andreas at Super Computer Café. Go to night market. Buy Bupropion SR at chemist. Watch Indian TV and pass out. High temp 35 degrees Celsius.

Monday – Palitana to Ahmedabad

Wake up 6am. Service coffee. Auto rickshaw to temples. Walk 4000 steps uphill barefoot. Amazing complex, 800 temples, mazes, gods, faithful pilgrims. On the way down Geoff gets blisters. Coolies take us down for RS 250 -/ cash. Meet two Belgian guys at Sameru Government Hotel. Eat great talis. Ride off at 2ish. Great roads. Pretty hot. Stop often for cold drinks. Around dusk hit 8A Freeway. My bike starts acting up. I’m almost killed by a crazy bus driver. Limp into town. Clutch starts sticking. Fix it, ride to shitty hotel with no garage. Finally find Hotel Volga around 11pm. Great place RS 700 -/ night for a double. Exhausted. Pork out on room service.

Sunday – Diu to Palitana

Meet A to Z owner, get great information. Motor to Palitana around 2pm. Amazing roads. We stopped every 40kms or so for a break. Great ride.

Saturday- Diu

 

Went to Diu market to buy food for BBQ. Bought purple carrots, red and white onions, garlic, corn, papaya, mango, and spices. Rode to Diu Church, Sunset Point for Sunset, back to Sao Tome for BBQ. Geoff realizes he lost his backpack with passport etc. Searches for hour in dark, finds it at A to Z Internet Café. Nothing missing!

Friday – Diu

 

Hung out on Vanakbara Beach with Israeli guys. Built bunker and body surfed. Spent three hours at internet café faking registration for bikes. Met Andreas, South African born Aussie of Greek decent, two French guys, Brit couple. Went to Nagoa Beach for Sunset. Met Aussie couple.
